General Information
Bright Beginnings Preschool (BBPS) at Disciples Christian
Church is a Christian-based early childhood development program for children
ages twelve months through six years. At BBPS, we believe that children will
grow and flourish intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially when
given the opportunity. We also believe that giving children opportunities for
success helps them build a positive self-image and prepares them for
kindergarten and beyond.
BBPS began in 1992 and is licensed by the State of Texas
Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. Linda Gulick has been the
Director since 1999. The program's hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.
m. to 2:00 p. m. We follow the PISD schedule for major holidays and breaks
throughout the year. We serve approximately 150 families each year with an
age-appropriate teacher to student ratio in each class. We also have an open
door policy that encourages all parents to stop in at any time and discreetly
observe their children. To schedule a tour of our facilities, please call the
Preschool Office at (972)398-2240.

Staff

Bright
Beginnings Preschool (BBPS) is a curriculum based Christian Preschool that is
blessed with an excellent staff. Under the leadership of Director Linda Gulick,
BBPS has developed one of the strongest early childhood education programs in
our community.
Linda
received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma and her
Master of Fine Arts from the University of Utah. She has over thirty five years
experience teaching children, including instruction in the areas of Chapel,
music, Spanish, and dance. Linda is the President of the Collin County
Association For the Education of Young Children (CCAEYC), an affiliate of the
National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Linda is the
Cluster Chairman for the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children (TAEYC).
Linda is also a member of the Early Childhood Directors Network (ECDN) and the
Methodist Nursery and Kindergarten Association. Linda Gulick was the Presenter
of the Year in 2006 for Collin County for the CCAEYC. As BBPS Director, Linda
coordinates the school's staff, curriculum, enrollment, and scheduling. Yet her
role is not limited to an administrative one. She strives "to help educate and
mold happy, healthy, and hopeful children."
Our team of
BBPS teachers is highly committed and hard-working. They attend monthly staff
meetings and are required to complete 15 hours yearly of early childhood
development courses to be on our staff. In addition, each teacher must complete
CPR, first aid, SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome), and SIDS classes. Everyone on the
BBPS staff has also passed a criminal history and background check.

Curriculum
Our curriculum at Bright Beginnings Preschool (BBPS) is
developed by the teachers to aid in the individual growth of the children. It is
our objective to prepare the children for success in kindergarten and beyond. To
this end, we include age-appropriate learning activities and crafts in each
class. The children also have weekly Spanish and Music classes.
In addition, we offer special educational and social
events throughout the year such as: Police and Fire Department visits, an annual
zoo trip, Field Day, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas and Spring Sing programs,
holiday parties, Grandparents' Day Brunch, and Mother's Day Brunch.
All of our classes promote Christian teachings and values.
There are regular Bible stories and activities incorporated into the curriculum,
and Christian songs are part of the music program. The children also meet weekly
with Linda for Chapel service, and they pray before
meals. Our goal at BBPS is to provide children with opportunities to learn about
and enjoy God's world.
