Habitat
for Humanity –
Lunch Bunch Update |
We delivered lunch to the Habitat for Humanity folks on
June 5th as planned. What a blessing. I am just blown away at the generosity
of the people in our congregation. We had over 10 people donate food or
funds to help with this effort, and 5 people help deliver the food and
setup. Thanks so much to all those who contributed, with a special thanks to
Honey Baked Ham for the wonderful ham and turkey.
The people at the build site were extremely appreciative of our efforts. It
was nice to see how much they enjoyed the simple meal we provided (I think
they especially liked the homemade cookies). As hot and humid as the day was
it was great there was a shaded area in the back of the site where they
could break. Our resident Habitat builder Dave Bell was there and he gave us
a guided tour of the home with explanations about how it was being built. It
is going to be a wonderful home.
We even had a surprise visit from Fred and Nancy Hall. I know Nancy took
some great pictures, and I can't wait to see them. I think I speak for
all the folks who helped deliver lunch that we came away from this with a
special admiration for the volunteers. They really do make miracles happen
for those who cannot afford housing.
