A Message from Rev. David

It doesn’t seem possible that Christmas is already here but it is.  Over there amongst the lights, decorations and presents, is a gift, a spirit that is often unmatched.  The members and friends of DCC seem to embody this Christmas spirit exemplifying what it means to offer the gifts of God to others and to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community and beyond.  However in addition to reaching out you look within and over the years have provided hope and encouragement to so many people.

Kristina and I and our family can’t thank you enough for your generosity and for your uplifting and encouraging spirit which has brought much joy and comfort to our family the past nine months.  Also we can’t thank you enough for the time we can be with our family and look forward to seeing you in 2010!

May God’s blessings keep you warm and safe this Christmas and throughout the New Year.

In Christ’s Unfailing Love,

David, Kristina, Kyleigh and Garrison

Thank You all!

Members of Disciples Christian Church,

I want to thank you all so much for the very generous Christmas bonus. It will come in handy for the upcoming wedding of Curtis and Frances. Our family will grow on October 9, 2010. We are all very excited. I became the Director of Bright Beginnings Preschool in 1998. The years have flown by. I greatly appreciate the support of a wonderful Advisory Board and the church members of DCC. Thank you for intrusting me with the children and families of BBPS. With you help and guidance they can learn of God’s love and start their school years with His Grace and knowledge.

May the Lord bless you with the gift of His Perfect peace this Christmas and a sense of His presence in your heart every day in 2010.

Dear DCC friends,

I cannot tell you how much your gift means to me!  I so appreciate your generosity, especially during this time of economic difficulties for so many.  I love my job (and all of you) and am grateful to work at a place where I know I am appreciated – that has been evident for all of the five and one-half years I’ve worked here.

I pray you all have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to working with you all in the New Year.  Love,

Jan

Disciples Women’s Ministry

Disciples Women’s Ministry will have their next meeting on Tuesday, January 5 at 7 pm.  They will be discussing the book, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Shaffer and Barrows.  The meeting will take place in the party room at Barbara R.’s apartment complex.

Disciples Women’s Ministry is open to all women in the church.  Having read the book is not a requirement.

Installation Service

On Sunday, January 10 the Installation Service for the 2010 Officers, Trustees, Elders, and Deacons will take place during worship, followed by a reception in the Atrium.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to join in this special occasion.

Letter from The Samaritan Inn

Dear Disciples Christian Church,

Thank you for your contribution of $600.00 received on December 11, 2009.  The Samaritan Inn is the only homeless shelter in Collin County, population 730,000 and, as a result, our 125 beds are consistently filled.  We provide refuge and an intensive therapeutic program that leads to independence for single men, women, and families.

As you might imagine, the decline in the economy has created an even greater need for our services and we can only continue to provide them with the support of the community and people like you.

Sincerely,

Lynne Sipiora, Executive Director
