Updated Prayer Requests

  • Gena H. was with her mom, Mary Lynn, who had successful surgery on December 1 to remove the tumor from her pancreas.  They are awaiting the pathology report.

The prayer requests in The Link each week are recent updates. A list of ongoing prayer requests appears in our worship bulletin each Sunday.

DCC Board Meeting

All DCC Board members should plan on attending this important quarterly meeting scheduled for Sunday, December 6 at 7 pm.  The meeting will take place in the Atrium.  Also, please remember to bring your committee reports with you.  In addition to services/projects since the last meeting, please bring description of what your Team (committee) does throughout a typical year.  This should include job description/duties (as best you know them to be) and any additional pertinent information.  This information will be compiled as we work on our process document.

REMINDER:  Please be sure to check emails for important nominating committee information!

Congregational Meeting

A congregational meeting is scheduled to take place following worship on Sunday, December 13.  This is an important meeting as the new DCC board and annual budget for 2010 will be voted upon, so it is important that everyone attend.

REMINDER:  Please be sure to check emails for important nominating committee information!

Youth News

Hello Jr. and Sr. Highers, hope you’re all doing great!  Just a couple more weeks and classes will be over (well at least for this semester).   Kristina and I have been talking about some things we’d like to do with the youth program.  We also want to know what you think, what you want to do.  So here’s what I’m asking of you:  think about what you want to get out of the youth program and how you can help make it happen?  I know that everyone’s busy, but if this is something you’re interested in then take a few minutes to think about this and write your ideas down because we really want to hear from you!

Here are some dates to remember:

Youth Meeting Sunday December 6 @ 9:30 AM in the Youth Room (we’ll talk about some of your ideas and some of ours and talk about getting some new furniture for the youth room.)

Youth Christmas Party (Jr. and Sr. High)

When: Sunday December 20 from 4-7

      Where: DCC

What: FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, MOVIE, AND GIFT EXCHANGE

Who: DCC youth and friends, the more the merrier! (Think about inviting a couple of your                         friends.)

If you can, bring a unisex gift to give, $5.00 max, (we’ll have more on hand if we need them) AND bring a canned food item to give to our local food pantry!

Thanks in Christ

David and Kristina

Children’s News

Hello DCC Children 5Th grade and younger!  We want to invite you to a special Birthday Party for Jesus.  We’ll have party hats, fun and games.  And just like any birthday party bring a gift (a canned food item) to share with someone.  By doing this we’re showing love for others like Jesus loves us.

When: Sunday December 13 @ 9:30-10:15AM

Where: DCC

What: Fun, games and surprises!

Who: DCC children 5th grade and younger

(Remember to bring a canned food “gift” to share with our local food pantry.)

Seeker’s Sunday School

The Seeker’s Sunday school class will be studying the book of Mark beginning Sunday, December 6.  Contact Pat Brown if you have any questions.

Salvation Army Angel Tree

This year’s Salvation Army Angel Tree is up and “ready for business.”  There are still a handful of angels left on the tree, so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, you’re in luck!  Please bring your bags of presents to the Atrium THIS Sunday, December 6, as Bobby Overstreet has to deliver them to Collin Creek Mall by December 8.

Young at Heart

The Young at Heart Christmas party will be held at Donna and Bob Clancy’s on Thursday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Meat and beverages will be provided; the rest of the meal is pot luck.  The evening will include the usual gift exchange so each person attending will need to bring a gift for the exchange.  The cost of each gift is usually around $15 so be creative!  Please let them know if you will be coming either by phone (972.423.7583) or email (dlclancy@aol.com or rcclancy@aol.com).

Disciples Womens Ministry

Additionally, Phyllis Harbaugh wants to remind all DCC women that you can pick up your blessing boxes on the Welcome Table in the Atrium.  The boxes will not be collected until sometime next year.  If you have any questions about either of these special projects please contact Phyllis.

Mike’s Kids

Mike’s Kids is an annual program that is supported by the North Texas Area of Disciples Christian Churches, the Christian Men’s Fellowship, and the Southwest Good Samaritans Ministries.  This program supports children who have been abandoned or forced out of their homeland to a new country.  As Christmas season fast approaches, it is time to begin filling banana boxes with clothing (appropriate for South Texas) and child-sized underwear (new), toys (new or gently used), food, etc. for Mike’s Kids in the Los Fresnos, Texas area.

The boxes are in the Atrium ready to be filled up!  DCC is a collection point for this program.  The boxes will be picked up on Monday, December 14.

DWM Special Projects

DCC’s Disciple Women’s Ministry group will be collecting a special offering during the month of December.  The money collected will be donated to the Heifer International non-profit organization.  The mission of Heifer is to provide gifts of livestock and training to help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways.  When making a donation, indicate in the memo section of the check that it is for “DWM Heifer” and place it in the offering plate.

Secondly, Phyllis Harbaugh wants to remind all DCC women that you can pick up your blessing boxes on the Welcome Table in the Atrium.  The boxes will not be collected until sometime next year.  If you have any questions about either of these special projects please contact Phyllis.
