Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat will take place on Saturday, October 31 from 12—3 pm.  The Evangelism team is hoping for a great turnout from DCC members to help out with the activities of that day, whether it’s decorating your trunk, manning another’s trunk (while they are volunteering in another area), helping with a booth or decorations, or donating candy or other items the team needs for the event.

If you’re able and willing to help out, please contact someone on the Evangelism team:  Mike Bell, Sonny Emine, Fred & Nancy Hall, Bob & Dudley Nesmith, and David & Kristina Nordyke.

Please note that there is a final Trunk or Treat meeting this coming Sunday, October 25 following worship.  Everyone interested in volunteering in some way is invited.  We’d love to see you there!

Young at Heart –TONIGHT!

The October Young at Heart dinner will take place TONIGHT Thursday, October 22 at 6:30 pm.  The restaurant location is Greek Isles Grille and Taverna.  Jan & Mark Mueller are in charge of this month’s meal, so please RSVP to them if you are attending.  The restaurant is located at Ruisseau Village, the center located on the northwest corner of Parker Rd. and Central Expressway.

Men’s Bible Study

Calling all men!  Come join us at IHOP (Plano Pkwy. just east of Preston Rd., south side of road) Friday, October 23 at 7:00 a.m.  No Bible, No Breakfast!  Questions?  Call Bob Knoll (972-618-8202) or Fred Hall (972-964-2727).

Hungry???

Nancy Hall

Looking for the best restaurant for a good meal?  Where do you go?  A place where there’s a greeting as you enter, possibly recognition of your name by the host, hostess, or even the wait staff?  A place with inviting surroundings where you can visit, attention to detail of your orders, and prompt delivery of our food?  Mouth-watering flavor, attentive server, ease of payment and value priced?  Added bonus:  waitpersons that talk and act as if they want to get to know you and spend extra time visiting with you.  Sound like a place you could celebrate your next dining-out experience?  That‘s a description of Outback Steakhouse, one of the generous donors to DCC’s Trunk or Treat.  Come on out and see if you can win the gift card they’re donating!  I found the right place … (burp).

All Saints DayAll Saints Sunday, November 1

Like previous years, we will set aside time the first Sunday in November in worship to read the names of family members and friends who have died in the past 12 months.  As each name is read, a bell tolls and a rose is carried to the altar to represent that person whose memory lives on.

If you have lost a special friend or loved one in the last year, we invite you to participate in this service.  First, email Jan in the DCC office at theoffice@dccplano.com by Wednesday, October 28 with your information. Second, plan to be present on November 1 so that you can participate in the service of remembrance.

All Saint's Sunday is a celebration of life and a time for healing. Together as a church family we give thanks to God for those who have shared the journey with us and blessed our lives.

Gospel Gang

Fred Hall

We call our get together the Gospel Gang.  Exactly when the Gospel Gang got its name, I’m not sure.  Is it time for a name change?  I think not.  There’s still a gang that meets on Sunday morning at 9:30 to involve themselves with the gospel.  What we do during our 45 minutes together depends on what we’re studying.  And we’ve had a wide range of studies focused on what the Bible has to say about … (whatever).  Everyone has time to inject an idea, raise questions, look for alternatives, even think about what this means today.

You really ought to join us:  the GOSPEL GANG, 9:30 AM, SUNDAY MORNINGS.

Adoption & Foster Care Conference

Many children are waiting worldwide to become part of a family; by sharing adoption and foster information with Christians in our community, we believe we can help build the kingdom of God, one family at a time.  If you or someone you know are interested in either adoption or fostering a child, please see the flier below and pass on the information.  Thank you           Mary Jo Marvin
