The prayer requests in The Link each week are recent updates. A list of ongoing prayer requests appears in our worship bulletin each Sunday.

Clark’s Clips

It hardly seems possible but it’s time for summer activities.  And this summer there will be at least one activity that is not a usual activity for Disciples Christian Church. The Search Committee will be looking at the profiles/resumes of prospective new pastors.  Yes, they have names now.  If you are keeping an eye on the progress poster you know that we are now on the right-hand column.  That’s where you want to be (unlike Deal or No Deal where the contestants want to be in the left-hand column!).  The Search Committee is by no means in the home stretch; they have a lot of work to be done.

So keep the Committee in your prayers.  Make note of who is on the Committee, and pray for them by name.  Check with them periodically (often!) and encourage them.  Tell them you are praying for them.  And let them do their tasks.

Keep the congregation in your prayers as well.  When you pray for each other you strengthen our commitment, our witness, and our mission.  If you are away this summer, remember to worship; then come back home and share the experience with the rest of us.  Always go expecting God, and God will be there.

DCC Board Meeting

All board members should please try to attend Sunday night’s board meeting at 7 pm.  Some of the items to be discussed include:

            -- property security

-- replacement of the sanctuary carpet

            -- Pastor search update

            -- July 4 parade

            -- regular ministry reports

HELP!

We need volunteers on Sunday, June 1 and 8 after worship to replace labels on the water bottles to be handed out at the Plano 4th of July parade.  Mike Bell is the contact person for this event.  There is also a need for volunteers at the parade to pass out the bottles, get the trailer/float, drive the vehicle/float during the parade, and  decorate the trailer/float.  Please consider helping out with this fun and meaningful event.  You can contact Mike at 214-695-8157.

Bob Knoll “All Star” Basketball Camp

June 6 & 7, dates of the camp, are fast approaching!  If you can volunteer some time during the camp, please contact Bob & Sharon Knoll at 972-618-8202.  If you know of a young person in grades 2 - 8 that might like to participate in this FREE camp, direct them to www.dccplano.com where they can access a camp flier.

Computer Question and Answer Forum (aka Troubleshooting 911)

See if you can answer these questions:

  • If a RAM megabytes you, will you get a virus?
  • Can a phish get caught in an Internet?
  • If you throw Spam against a firewall, will it stick?
  • Does this all sound like a bunch of gibberish to you?

Well, if it does, let’s see if we can make sense of this technobabble.

Dave Gillen is offering a Computer Question and Answer Forum in June.  There will be no set presentation.  Bring your computer questions, Web puzzles, and Email conundrums to the forum.  Dave will help untangle the mess for you.

The forum will be held Sunday, June 8th at 5:30 PM.  It will last about an hour…or until the well of questions runs dry.

And the answers to the questions are:  no, yes, no, and yes.  You’ll have to come to the forum to find out why!

Attention Ladies!

Most of you have heard that we are restarting the Christian Women's Fellowship this fall.  Well, it's time to get the ball rolling.  Letters are going out this week with a survey.  We want everyone's input.   Please fill out the survey and place it in the CWF basket in the narthex or send it to the office at the church.  All the results will be compiled and discussed at a meeting this Sunday, June 1, at 4:00 pm.   We are so excited about getting this important ministry started again.  If for some reason you fail to receive a survey, please contact Mary Carroll at 214-673-6151 or m48carroll@hotmail.com.
