Clark’s Clips

Memory is one of God’s greatest gifts to us.  Remembering is our greatest gift to God and to others.  What a blessing to God to remember our Savior and all he did for us – his life, his teachings, his compassion, his death, and his resurrection.  We do it every Sunday, at least.  I hope we do it every day!

In the same way, we pay tribute to others when we remember what they have done for us.  It is what this Memorial Day weekend is all about.  Giving those who have gone before us, those who have given their lives and limbs for our life, for our freedom, is a blessing to them, and truly what they deserve.

Our lives are built on what others have done before us.  Their courage feeds our courage.  Their faith and faithfulness bolster ours.  So let us remember this weekend with gratitude those who have given their lives for us and those who continue to fight and labor on for the freedom of us all.

And let us thank God for the gift of salvation as we continue to remember our brave Savior.

See you Sunday!

Diane

Coming Soon:  VBS Power Lab!

Everyone

Imagine…

…a child hearing about God’s love for the first time.
…kids worshipping in powerful ways.
…children praying for each other.
…adults and teens modeling Jesus’ love to children.
…the kids in our church sharing Christ with children around the world.
…children serving each other.

This summer, let’s transform our church into a bubbling science lab.  Be a part of the vacation Bible school at Disciples Christian Church during August 11-15.  It’s our goal to reach 60 kids with this program!  That’s 60 kids who will grow in their relationship with God.

We’re praying this awesome VBS program will touch children’s hearts and lives with God’s love.  Help kids in our community discover that:

           Jesus gives us the power

*       to be thankful,

*        to help others,

*       to be brave,

*       to live forever, and

*                to tell others about God.

As we plan and prepare for Power Lab, our team would cherish your prayers.  Pray that God would give us wisdom in planning.  Pray for the right staff members to join our team.  And pray that God would begin working in the hearts of the children who will come to Power Lab!

     Watch for more information about this exciting ministry event!

Computer Question and Answer Forum (aka Troubleshooting 911)

by Dave Gillen

See if you can answer these questions:

  • If a RAM megabytes you, will you get a virus?
  • Can a phish get caught in an Internet?
  • If you throw Spam against a firewall, will it stick?
  • Does this all sound like a bunch of gibberish to you?

Well, if it does, let’s see if we can make sense of this technobabble.

Dave Gillen is offering a Computer Question and Answer Forum in June.  There will be no set presentation.  Bring your computer questions, Web puzzles, and Email conundrums to the forum.  Dave will help untangle the mess for you.

The forum will be held Sunday, June 8th at 5:30 PM.  It will last about an hour…or until the well of questions runs dry.

And the answers to the questions are:  no, yes, no, and yes.  You’ll have to come to the forum to find out why!

Attention Ladies!

Most of you have heard that we are restarting the Christian Women's Fellowship this fall.  Well, it's time to get the ball rolling.  Letters are going out this week with a survey.  We want everyone's input.   Please fill out the survey and place it in the CWF basket in the narthex or send it to the office at the church.  All the results will be compiled and discussed at a meeting on Sunday, June 1, at 4:00 pm.   We are so excited about getting this important ministry started again.  If for some reason you fail to receive a survey, please contact Mary Carroll at 214-673-6151 or m48carroll@hotmail.com.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to Chuck and Nancy Bertschi for fixing the gate and the fence for Bright Beginnings Preschool. The preschoolers and staff are so fortunate to have such a wonderful family that helps us when we ask and even when we don’t but they see something that needs repairing. We all really appreciate all that they do for us.”    Linda Gulick
