Updated Prayer Requests

  • Barbara Dube’s father passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 17.  Barbara is a BBPS teacher.
  • Bruce Kitchell received test results for blood work for hepatitis C which fortunately did not detect any hepatitis.  He will have to test frequently for a year.  He is feeling better every day.  They’ll try to get to Indianapolis again in May or June.
  • Dakota’s homegoing” went as scheduled and she is doing well according to Laura.  The Young family appreciates everyone’s prayers during their transition period.
  • Claudette Marcoux, mother of Laura Young’s brother-in-law, is battling cancer and continues to live in a nursing home.

The prayer requests in The Link each week are recent updates. A list of ongoing prayer requests appears in our worship bulletin each Sunday.

Clark’s Clips

Do you long for the good old days?  Remember?  Hauling water from the cistern or the well (we had both); reading by kerosene lamp light; heating water in the reservoir on the wood stove; listening to battery radios (two people at a time; one on each earphone); baths in a wash tub; and don’t forget going to the ‘facilities’ through the chicken yard!

Oh yes, we had them all.  I’m sharing some of my earliest memories.  But for some people in the world today these aren’t memories, they are everyday reality.  Week of Compassion, along with One Great Hour of Sharing and Church World Service, works to overcome some of this for peoples who have great needs.  We are participating in Week of Compassion right now to make resources available for programs to feed, educate, clothe, house, and train.

I hope you will respond generously and compassionately.  Together we work miracles in the name of Jesus.  God bless.

The Texas State Attorney General has sent out a consumer alert due to scams that are occurring due to the recent tax refunds/cuts/rebates that are taking place this spring. Please remember the Federal Government is not going to send out e-mails or make phone calls asking for your social security number and bank account numbers. Don't be fooled into giving out your information because you think you may get your refund faster or you may receive more money if you follow the instructions of the caller or the author of the e-mail.  The bottom line is, if you did not initiate the call, never give out any information because you really don't know who you are speaking with.

Remember, taxation without criminalization, it's not funny, it's your money!

Men’s Bible Study

DCC Annual Hymn Poll

Are you desperately tired of the political polls yet?  Well, here is your chance to participate in a completely non-partisan poll. Do you want questions with easy answers? And what’s more, there is no possible negative outcome if you don't participate, and a guaranteed positive outcome for every single one of you who do!  All ages, members or visitors alike, are welcome to participate.  Do you have a favorite hymn(s)? If you will take the time to email the name(s) to me, or write it/them down to put it in the hymn poll box in the narthex this month, I will be sure to find a time during 2008 for us to sing them.

Please tell me:

1) Your favorite general/"ordinary time" hymn: __________________________________________

2) Favorite Advent/Christmas hymn: ______________________________________

3) Favorite Lent/Easter hymn:____________________________________________

4) If anything were possible with the DCC music program, I wish we could...

Thank you!  I will share the “DCC Top Ten” in a future Link article and am looking forward to programming your favorites in upcoming worship times this year.

Telling the Good News: Online!

If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over.  Remember, church leaders can find important documents on the download page.  Also, don't forget to visit the online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. You can find all of the church activities, birthdays and anniversaries on that calendar, as well as the scheduled Elders, Deacons and Connectors for each Sunday.

For website suggestions, please e-mail the church office.
