Clark’s Clips

First off, we want to thank all who have helped us in the moving and adjusting period of our stay at Plano.  There is a lot that is new to us, and

a lot of settling and acclimating yet to do, but one thing we have enjoyed is so many great and varied places to eat right around here.  When you

come in from a small town, you really appreciate that!

It is an exciting time for us and an exciting time at Disciples CC!  We got off to a great start Sunday!  We enjoyed worship, with so many singing in the choir.   Diane was the preacher last week (just in case you were not here), and Galen will be preaching Sunday.  We enjoyed meeting many of you.  Everyone is so friendly!  That is a great way to make everyone comfortable here.  Now, we look forward to meeting more people and working with you in the weeks to come.  Most importantly, if you have any needs, or know of others who do, please let us know.  In the meantime, come and meet us and hear us and get to know us better!

Meet our New Members!

Welcome to Dixie and Bob Deen, DCC’s newest members.  Dixie had been a visitor of DCC since December 2006, so most of you already know her!  Bob and Dixie have been married for 38 years.  Bob currently works for the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development in Washington D.C and commutes back to Plano about once a month.  He spent 35 years as a hospital administrator in Texas, Missouri, Virginia, Georgia, Arkansas, and Kentucky.  Dixie worked many years as a Minister of Christian Education/Children’s Minister/Campus Minister in Disciples churches in Texas, Missouri and Virginia.  They have two married daughters, one grandson and one granddaughter on the way, due in May.  Dixie baby sits her grandson two days a week.

2008 Flower Calendar

The flower calendar for this year is back in the Narthex rather than in Jan’s office.  At this point, there are plenty Sundays to choose from

for those of you wishing to contribute flowers during worship in honor of a special person or occasion.  The cost is $40.  Please remember to drop your payment in the offering plate on the Sunday you’re giving the flowers.

Autumn MagicSouper Bowl of Caring

The Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday is February 3.  You can help support this canned-good drive to help refill the shelves of the Plano Food Pantry.  Bring your canned goods (ex. canned soup, chili, stew, spaghetti sauce, any non-perishable food item) and we will dedicate them February 3 as we join churches around the nation in our efforts to help end hunger in our community.

Telling the Good News: Online!

If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over. A significant update was made on Monday, November 12. There are photos of Trunk or Treat. You can access them from snapfish.com. You will need a username and a password, but it only takes a few seconds to get registered. There are 19 photos online from our fall festival, which was Saturday, October 27.

Remember, church leaders can find important documents on the download page.

Also, don't forget to visit the online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. You can find all of the church activities, birthdays and anniversaries on that calendar, as well as the scheduled Elders, Deacons and Connectors for each Sunday.

Also, there is a place to submit prayer requests.

For website suggestions, please e-mail the church office.
