Feeding Hungry Volunteers

Our church will be providing lunch on the Habitat worksite in Wylie THIS Saturday, June 16. You can drop off your food at the church that morning around 10 am, or meet us at the worksite at 11 am.

Here is a map to the work site.

Like last year, let's have another big turnout as we feed over 30 hungry volunteers.

We will once again be decorating a float and handing (not throwing!) out water bottles in the Plano Independence Day Parade.

You can help us put labels on the bottles the next three Sundays following worship. To take part in the parade, decorate the float and pass out water bottles, meet us in the east PSHS parking lot at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

The General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will take place at the Fort Worth Convention Center July 21-25, and now is the time to register. A delegation from DCC will be going to Fort Worth together on Saturday, July 21 for the opening worship. No registration is required for this. Meet at the church at 6 p.m. to caravan. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to join thousands of other disciples in worship!
I did something quite fascinating this morning.

For the first time since we drafted them, I went back and looked at the comments and answers you gave in February of 2006 when we had two "get-to-know-the- pastor" gatherings at our house.

Do you remember? I asked you to complete five opened-ended statements:

Bright Beginnings Pre-School began its Summer Camp this week. Children will be attending on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays this summer. There are two three-week sessions: June 12-28 and July 10-26.

For his Eagle Scout project, Brian Dube, the son of Barbara Dube, a teacher at BBPS, is doing some work to our playground this summer. For more information about that, click here.

Pictured, BBPS children take part in the "Spring Sing" on May 23, which concluded the 2006-07 school year.

Thank you for continuing to hold the BBPS children and staff in your prayers.

It's time to round up your young-uns (3 years old - 5th graders) and get them signed up for a rip-roarin' good time at Avalanche Ranch! Registration forms are in the information center next to the Atrium or you may register, learn about volunteer opportunities and sign up online.

There's plenty of fun things to do at the ranch! Lots of helping hands are needed during the week so talk to any of our adults who have signed on to help and join the fun at Avalanche Ranch: Donna Atkinson - Director; Brian Coats - Publicity Director; Patti Boyer - Round-up Registration; Nancy and Chuck Bertschi - Cowpoke Crafts and Missions; Nicole Coats - Preschool Class Bible Adventure and Missions; Vicki Gonzalez - Decorations Coordinator; Fred and Nancy Hall - Chuck Wagon Chow Snack Coordinators and Photographer; Mariana McGowan - Horseplay Games; Sandy Snyder - Wild Bible Adventures Drama and Storytelling; Laura Young - Sing and Play Stampede; Ashley Crowell - Preschool Director.

We're still looking for a Preschool Games Leader, Chadder's Wild West Theater Leader (Show a short DVD movie each day and encourage discussion), and teen (6th grade and up) and adult Crew Leaders (Move through each activity station with a small group of children and serve as their guide and encourager).

Donna Atkinson is keynoting Eighter's Camp June 16-23 at Camp Kum-Ba-Yah in the Kentucky region. Marin Young will be attending JYF I at Disciples Crossing the week of June 25-29, and Brian Coats will be the worship leader at a camp in North Carolina July 7-15.

Please hold the youth attending and their adult leaders in your prayers. Campers love to get mail. The address at Disciples Crossing is: 3693 State Hwy 31 East, Athens, TX 75752 Be sure and list the camp (ex. JYF 1 and the camper's name) on your letter or package!

If you're confused by the headline of this article, then you missed out on tons of fun at the first DCC Game Night of the summer. That's the bad news. The good news is that there are two more - July 15 and August 12. See you then!

Pictured: Kevin Mueller, Bobby Overstreet, Patti Boyer, Jan Mueller, Ellen Morton and Mark Mueller enjoy "Nerts," a game Nicole Coats taught the crowd Sunday night.

Don't forget to check out the photos and v ideos from the Bob Knoll All-Star Basketball Camp, held June 1-2 in our parking lot. Over 80 youth came for one of the four sessions.

The event was free, but parents and participants gave over $600 in donations!

Welcome
We are blessed with many regular guests who attend each week and make DCC their church home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people who have recently attended two or more Sundays.

Continuing Visitors:

First-time Visitors (June 10):
Jo Ann Fry; Bill Brown

website
If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over. A significant update was made on Tuesday, June 5. There are videos and photos from the basketball camp.

Remember, church leaders can find important documents on the download page. Additionally, all of Rev. Coats' sermons can be found on the message series page.

Also, don't forget to visit the online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. You can find all of the church activities, birthdays and anniversaries on that calendar, as well as the scheduled Elders, Deacons and Connectors for each Sunday.

Also, there is a place to submit prayer requests.

For website suggestions, please e-mail the church office.

Coming Soon
Two items of importance ... The second-quarter DCC Board Meeting is Sunday, June 24 at 5 p.m. All ministry team coordinators, Board officers and Deacon and Elder reps are expected to attend ... Also, don't foget that a "shred-it" truck will be in the DCC parking lot on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. This service is free. Bring sensitive documents and papers for shredding.

Feel free to forward this e-mail on. If you are the recipient of a forwarded e-mail, and you have more questions about anything you see here or about Disciples Christian Church, send an e-mail to brian@dccplano.com.
