General Assembly Begins THIS Saturday
|
|
|
Seven-thousand Disciples will descend upon the Lone
Star State this weekend, as the General Assembly of
the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) begins at the Forth Worth
Convention Center.
A delegation from DCC will be going
to Fort Worth together on Saturday for the
opening worship. No registration is required for
this. Meet at the church at 6 p.m. to caravan.
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to join
thousands of other disciples in worship!

We Made it the Whole Way!
|
|
|
Twenty-three members and friends of Disciples
Christian Church handed out about 1500 water bottles
in the Plano Independence Day Parade two weeks
ago.
The water bottles had labels with the church address
and website, along with a scripture:
" ... Jesus answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water
will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give
him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will
become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal
life.'" - John 4:13-14

Last week I served as the Worship Leader at the
2007 "Created To Be Me" Camp of the North Carolina
Region of the Christian Church (DOC).
Helping young people plan, prepare and lead worship
each evening is holy work. Let me give you a little "day
in the life" while I was at camp to help you understand
why I believe this to be so.

9:30 am-12:30 pm
Sign up your young-uns (3 years old - 5th graders)
through July 29! Register and learn about volunteer
opportunities online at www.dccplano.com.
You can help support the children and leaders of
Avalanche Ranch:
- Serve as a crew leader (youth, 6th grade - adult)
(Move through each activity station with a small group
of children. Be their guide and encourager)
- Help greet and check in the children each morning
at 9:15 am
- Make a monetary donation and/or donate supplies
(listed on a wish list in the atrium)
- Help set up for VBS, Sunday August 5 following
worship
- Pray for the children and adult leaders attending
Avalanche Ranch VBS
As you can see there's a place for everyone to share
their gifts!
Calling all station and crew leaders! There will
be a VBS Leader lunch and rally following worship on
Sunday, July 29 to go over last minute details
for VBS.
Bring a salad to share. Drinks and dessert will be
provided!

each week and make DCC their church
home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people
who
have recently attended two or more Sundays, or have
been attending or visiting DCC regularly.

Tuesday, June 5. There are videos and

from the basketball camp.
Remember, church leaders can find important
documents on the
download page. Additionally, all of Rev. Coats'
sermons can be found on the front page
now.
Also, don't forget to visit the online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities, birthdays
and anniversaries on that calendar, as well as
the
scheduled Elders,
Deacons and Connectors for
each Sunday. Also, there is a place to
submit prayer requests.
