Let's Grow

Get ready ... get set ...

The 2006 DCC Stewardship Campaign continues this Sunday. Join us as we lift up and pray for the property and evangelism ministries of Disciples Christian Church.

Sept. 10 - Let's Grow ... Our Church
Sept. 17 - Let's Grow ... Our Mission
Sept. 24 - Let's Grow ... Our Giving

Everyone is invited to a celebration luncheon after worship on Sunday, September 24. Please sign up for a side dish and/or dessert on the sheets that will circulate before and after Sunday School.

Our “Let’s Grow” campaign is about much more than budgets or money. It is about ministry and mission. You are encouraged to let this campaign be a season of reflection and prayer to all that God is calling Disciples Christian Church to do and to be. For a campaign scripture reading and prayer guide, visit the church website and click on the "Let's Grow" logo.

Gonzalez family
The DCC campaign "Let's Grow" was lived out last Sunday, as Vicki Gonzalez united with Disciples Christian Church.

Vicki's parents, Chuck and Nancy Bertschi, joined the church earlier this year. Vicki said she felt at home at DCC as well.

"I joined DCC because from the first visit my family and I were treated as your family," she said. "Everyone always greeted us and said hello. Everyone new our names, sometimes before we knew their names."

Vicki, an admitted reality TV "junkie," grew up at First Christian Church in Richardson. She and her husband Daniel were married there by Oran Nabors in 1999. Along with their son Aidan, they have been attending DCC regularly for several months.

"I am looking forward to teaching Aidan about Disciples Christian and everything I learned as a child from the Christian Church," Vicki said.

The family is currently working with The Arrow Project, a Christian Based agency, to foster a child.

Welcome, Vicki!

Adam's Animals is a non-profit foundation established in memory of Adam Hurst, a member of DCC and an NTA Youth Exec who died of leukemia on August 17th, 1999 at the age of eighteen. In the past seven years Adam's Animals has collected and distributed over 21,500 NEW stuffed animals to sick children in area hospitals. Adam's Animals are distributed by doctors, nurses, EMTs and staff whenever there is a child in need of comfort. Each stuffed animal delivered brings love, hope, friendship, and the knowledge that someone cares. Your contributions help bring all this to children who need special attention.

DCC is a drop off location for Adam's Animals. Please help by bringing NEW stuffed animals to the Adam's Animals box in the Atrium. Each stuffed animal becomes a friend to a child in need of something to hold on to and love at a difficult time in their young life. For more information, visit the Adam's Animals website.

Registration information can be found on the Region website. Also, talk to Brian for more details.

website
If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over. A significant update was made on Wednesday, August 30. There are more photos, and church leaders can find important documents on the download page. Additionally, all of Rev. Coats sermons can be found on a new message series page.

Also, don't forget to visit the online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. You can find all of the church activities, birthdays and anniversaries for September on that calendar, as well as the scheduled Elders, Deacons and Greeters for each Sunday.

Also, there is a place to submit prayer requests and a new feature called "DCC TV," which is a video of our Sunday worship.

For website suggestions, please e-mail the church office.

Feel free to forward this e-mail on. If you are the recipient of a forwarded e-mail, and you have more questions about anything you see here or about Disciples Christian Church, send an e-mail to brian@dccplano.com.
