A Festival is Coming to DCC THIS SATURDAY
|
 |
The DCC front lawn will be "the place" THIS
Saturday, October 28 from 3-6 pm. If you are
not signed up to help in some form or fashion, there
are still opportunities! You can bake a cake or other
treat,
or you can decorate your trunk for "trunk or treat."
Children will go from car to car collecting treats, and
there will be a contest for the most creatively-
decorated trunk.
In addition to Trunk or Treat, many other activities
are planned:
- A bounce house
- Carnival games led by the DCC youth
- Live music
- Face painting
- Pizza provided by Papa John's
- Participation by Plano Fire Department
- Raffles and prizes
- A costume contest
- Pet adoption
Many local businesses, including Outback
Steakhouse, Mardel's, Chick-Fil-A, The Cheesecake
Factory and Starbucks have donated prizes. Please
invite your friends and neighbors to this
SAFE Halloween alternative. For more
information, please contact Nancy Hall.

There is something going on behind the scenes at
Disciples Christian Church that you should know
about ...
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
On Sunday, November 5, we will mark All Saint's
Day by reading the names of family
members and friends who have died
in the past 12 months. As each name is read, a bell
tolls and a rose is carried to the altar to represent
that person whose memory lives on.
If you have lost a special friend or loved one in the
last year, we invite you to participate in this service.
First, contact the
church office with the name for the bulletin.
Second, plan to be
present on November 5 so that you can participate in
the service of remembrance. Finally, provide a photo
of
the individual that can be used during worship.
All Saints’ Sunday is a celebration of life and a time
for healing. Together as a church family we give
thanks
to God for those who have shared the journey with us
and blessed our lives.

Minister to Youth and Families
Fall is here! My senses are stirred alive to the beauty
of God’s creation by the fresh cool air I breathe in as
it blows briskly in and around and through me! My
eyes delight in the beautiful trees displaying a
kaleidoscope of color as the leaves change from one
hue to the next! Friends are gathering for a variety of
events, outdoor activities, games and homecoming.
It’s a joy to come together in community! It is so
wonderful to have a place to come home to each
Sunday at DCC Plano to gather together giving our
Creator God who created us, loves us and delights in
us, our thanks and praise for the many ways God
blesses us each and every day! I hope you will join
us as we celebrate, learn about God’s love for us
through Jesus Christ and R.A.L.L.Y. (Radically
Actively Living for the Lord Youth) and reach out in
that love together!
Scripture and Song each Sunday in
November – All youth gather in the Sanctuary at
9:30 am. Our Choir Director, Laura Young and pianist

and youth and how we worship together as a
community of faith. Join us as we pray and discern
God’s Word to us for the direction of our Children in
Worship program!

Another Mission Opportunity: CROP Walk
|
 |
On Sunday, November 5, you are invited to
join us as DCC participates in the Collin County
CROP Walk.
CROP Hunger Walks are "Communities Responding to
Overcome Poverty"-- neighbors walking together to
take a stand against hunger in our world. Together
we raise awareness and funds for international relief
and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.
The proceeds (around $4 million nationally) from CROP
Walk support long-term development in 80 countries,
help meet the special needs of refugees and assist in
disasters and famines. All this, and you get some
great exercise!
To take part in the walk, see Brian or Donna. The
walk will take place from 2-4 pm at Russell Creek
Park. Even if you cannot walk, you can participate by
sponsoring one of the walkers.

Telling the Good News: Online
|
 |
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. A significant update was made on
Monday, September 25. There are more
photos, and
church leaders can find important documents on the
download page. Additionally, all of Rev. Coats
sermons can be found on a new message series page.
Also, don't forget to visit the online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities, birthdays
and anniversaries on that calendar, as well as the
scheduled Elders,
Deacons and Greeters for
each Sunday. Also, there is a place to
submit prayer requests and a new feature
called "DCC TV," which includes the videos from
the "Let's Grow" campaign.
For website suggestions, please e-mail the
church office.
