Next Saturday, May 20, DCC is teaming up with West Plano Presbyterian Church to provide food at the Interfaith Partners for Habitat worksite. This involves preparing and serving breakfast and lunch to about 50 volunteers. A sign-up sheet has been going around, but volunteers are still needed. If you can help with this, please e-mail Nicole Coats. If you have already signed-up, please plan on dropping off your supplies at 10:30 a.m. that morning at the church.

Also, the house is nearing completion, but construction volunteers are still needed at 1210 G. St. in Plano. If you can help, simply show up at 8 a.m. with some work gloves and a servant's heart, and trained, dedicated construction supervisors (like our own Dave Bell!) will point you in the right direction.

Kick off the summer with a unique special event:

Ice Cream Social and Concert featuring the “9:45 Band" | 7-9 pm

This is an excellent laid-back event to invite your friends and neighbors to ... The 9:45 Band leads the Contemporary service at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club. They play adult contemporary and folk music.

We'll begin in the fellowship hall at 7 pm and move into the sanctuary for the concert around 8 pm.
In vibrant, Christ-centered churches, what does evangelism look like? How about worship? Outreach?

Join us the next three weeks as we explore questions like these ... We'll take a look at the purpose and mission of the church, and we'll listen for God's word of vision for Disciples Christian Church as we continue to claim God's promise of "all things new."

  • May 14 ... Discipleship Out of the Box ... 2 Timothy 3:14-45
  • May 21 ... Outreach Out of the Box ... John 4:1- 26
  • June 4 - Pentecost ... Church Out of the Box ... Acts 2:1-21

This series is taking place in conjunction with DCC's new leadership structure. Job descriptions for all of the new ministry team coordinator positions are available on the DCC Website.

Registration is underway for DCC's Vacation Bible School, set for July 17-21 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm.

If you would like to prayerfully nominate someone for the role of Elder, Deacon, Board Officer or Trustee, please e-mail or call the church office. Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, May 21.

I know evangelism can be hard work. It takes courage and diligence to find appropriate times and places to share faith. Like lots of work, it gets more manageable with proper tools. Given that, let me give you a possible addition to your tool belt that makes living and telling the good news of Jesus Christ a bit easier and more effective.

Youth News
Calling all youth in grades 6-12. Let's stay after church on Sunday, May 21. We'll go out to eat somewhere near the church and talk about our upcoming car wash fundraiser. Then, we'll come back and put up VBS door-hangers in the apartments near the church. We should be finished around 2 p.m.
