We took a break to focus our attention on Lent and Easter, but our "second-stage" conversations return this month.

Join Brian THIS SUNDAY, May 7 at 3:30 pm to discuss discipleship and Christian education, and then again on May 21, also at 3:30 pm, to discuss evangelism and church growth.

All are welcome - these are meant to be discussions where we share, brainstorm and dream!

  • June 2-3 ... 3rd Annual Bob Knoll Basketball Camp
  • June 9 ... The "9:45 Band" in concert ... Ice cream social beforehand beginning at 7 p.m.
  • June 11 ... Dani Loving-Cartwright, Southwest Region Minister, will be joining us in worship and bringing the message
  • July 17-21 ... Fiesta! Vacation Bible School; 9:30 am-12:30 pm; for children three years old to fifth grade
  • July 21 ... "Altered," the youth praise and worship band from Cypress Creek Christian Church in Spring, in concert ... Ice cream social beforehand beginning at 7 p.m.
In vibrant, Christ-centered churches, what does evangelism look like? How about worship? Outreach?

Join us during April and May as we explore questions like these ... We'll take a look at the purpose and mission of the church, and we'll listen for God's word of vision for Disciples Christian Church as we continue to claim God's promise of "all things new."

Chalice
The 2006 NTA Annual Area Assembly will take place this Sunday, May 7 at 3 p.m. at Northway Christian Church in Dallas. The guest preacher is Rev. Andrea Foster. C lick here for directions to Northway Christian Church.

Charlotte Nabors will be the guest speaker at the next General Meeting of the Disciples Women on May 11, also at Northway Christian Church. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. followed by lunch. Detailed information is in the bulletin board area or call the church office for details.

Also, May 19-21 is the 59th Annual Tri-Area CMF Spring Retreat. It will take place at Disciples Crossing Retreat and Conference Center in Athens, Texas. There is a flyer in the bulletin board area or call the church office for details.

Part of the retreat I went to last week was intentionally set aside for prayer. From around 9 p.m. on Tuesday to 9 a.m. on Thursday, we were silent.

If you're scoring at home, that's 36 hours. No talking. I went into this time thinking, "There's no way." I came out thinking ...
Welcome
We are blessed with many regular guests who attend each week and make DCC their church home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people who have recently attended two or more Sundays.

Easter
At Disciples Christian Church, we believe Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God, and he is the Lord and Savior of the world!

The verbs in that statement are all present tense! We live knowing that Christ is alive! As such, we join together and celebrate Easter - the Easter season and the spirit of Easter - every Sunday.

Check out the new Easter bulletin board in the fellowship hall, and invite a friend to "Easter" at Disciples Christian Church!
Habitat
Work continues on the Interfaith Partners for Habitat home at 1210 G. St. in Plano. If you can help, volunteers are needed every Saturday. Simply show up at 8 a.m. with some work gloves and a servant's heart, and trained, dedicated construction supervisors (like our own Dave Bell!) will point you in the right direction.

On Saturday, May 20, DCC is teaming up with West Plano Presbyterian Church to provide food at the worksite. This involves preparing and serving breakfast and lunch to about 50 volunteers. If you can help with this, please e-mail Nicole Coats.
