You'll want to be sure and be around THIS
Sunday,
May 21. First, following the worship service we'll
have
a reception to say thank you to and send prayers
with John Dysart, our pianist, as he makes a
move to Minnesota. Later, at 3:30 p.m.,
you'll want to join us for the fourth
and final installment of the "second stage
conversations." Join us as we discuss evangelism
and church growth. We'll take a look at
evangelistic programs with proven track records, and
talk about ways we can promote DCC to the greater
Plano community. Don't miss it! Finally, the
Newcomer's Cafe is back on after a one-
week break for Mother's Day. This Sunday at 5 p.m.
we'll be discussing the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ).

What's Summer without Ice Cream?
|
|

Kick off the summer with a unique special
event:
Ice Cream Social and Concert featuring
the “9:45 Band" | Friday, June 9 at 7 pm
This is an excellent laid-back event to invite your
friends and neighbors to ... The 9:45 Band leads the
Contemporary service at Fellowship United Methodist
Church in Trophy Club. They play adult contemporary
and folk music.
We'll begin in the fellowship hall at 7 pm and move
into the sanctuary for the concert around 8 pm.

In vibrant, Christ-centered churches, what does
evangelism look like? How about worship? Outreach?
Join us the next two weeks as we explore
questions like these and wrap up this message
series ... We'll take a look at the
purpose and mission of the church, and we'll
listen for
God's word of vision for Disciples Christian
Church as we continue to claim God's promise of "all
things new."

This series is taking place in
conjunction with DCC's new leadership structure. Job

Words cannot express how I feel towards all of you.
Your prayers, your concerns, your actions--all mean
more than you can possibly know. To those of you
who were there for Matt and Ryan during the time of
my surgery I thank you! They needed support that I
wasn't able to give them at that time. For all the
cards (tons!!), flowers, candy, food, phone calls, taxi
service, prayers...I am truly blessed!
What a wonderful, fantastic family we have at DCC.
Outreach is more than just reaching out to the
community around you, it's also reaching out to the
community within. That is definitely something DCC
can be proud of. Don't let anyone ever say we don't
do what's necessary for those who need help. I
needed it and you did it. We may be small, but we
are mighty!!
I know God is looking down on me right now (along
with Mom) and making sure that everything is good.
What else could I want or need? Thank you all again
for being so wonderful to me and to my family. There
are still some difficult roads to travel coming up but I
know that with all of you behind me I cannot fail.
You answered God's call with "Here I am." God bless
all of you for everything. You will always be in my
heart.

The third annual Bob Knoll All-Star Basketball
Camp is just weeks away!
Bob and his army of volunteers will be out in full force
June 2-3, as somewhere around 75 youth are
expected to descend upon the DCC parking lot. This
year, some coaches with Special Olympics of Texas
will be bringing their athletes over.
Volunteer opportunities are still available. Also, help
us spread the word about this FREE camp by
distributing fliers throughout the community. You can

Telling the Good News: Online
|
|
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. The most notable new feature is an online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities for May on
that calendar.Also, there is a place to
submit prayer requests and a new feature
called "DCC TV," which is a video of our Sunday worship.
