And the Winner Is ...
Disciples Christian Church

After two weeks of voting, the clear-cut, definitive, it-wasn't-even-close new name of the DCC newsletter is:

The Link

And the winning submitter of the new name? None other than Nancy Hall.

"I'm excited," Nancy said after she heard she won. "I think it's tremendous."

Nancy is thrilled about winning a free lifetime subscription to The Link. She's also energized by all of the implications that the new name has.

"It's an electronic newsletter," she said, "and there are links in it. Also, as the church we are linked to each other and to God."

Look for The Link in your e-mail inbox every Thursday. Hard copies are available every Sunday on the The Welcome Center in the DCC Atrium. If you would prefer to have a hard copy snail-mailed to your home, please contact the church office.

Bells
Stage two of our ideas, hopes and goals conversations gets underway this Sunday, March 12 at 4:30 pm. Join us for a discussion that seeks to answer the question, "What is meaningful worship?" The following Sunday (March 19), all those with ideas for church "beautification" and decorating are encouraged to come, also at 4:30 p.m.

Our new ministry teams will launch on July 1. The ideas and energy resulting from these stage two conversations can be handed off to the people that will begin to bring them to life! To see a full list of the ideas shared at our two "get-to-know-you" dinners, check out the bulletin board between the fellowship hall and the atrium.

Music Notes
If you are interested in singing the Easter music with our choir, now is the time to join us! Currently, we meet at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary before Sunday School begins. Experienced college and high school- age singers are also welcome! You don't have to read music to join the choir. If you can carry a tune and love to sing praises, come try us out. For more information, contact Laura Young, DCC Music Director at 972-744-9941.
Kitchells
DCC is thrilled to welcome the Kitchell family, who joined last Sunday, March 5. Luci is married to Bruce, who is in Indianapolis recovering from liver transplant surgery. An administrative assistant for an architectural firm in Dallas, Luci enjoys sewing, working on Bruce's website, helping people with liver disease and trying to spread the word about organ donation. She has two sons, Craig (8) and Andrew (3), and three step-children: Daniel (13), and Caitlyn and Carley, twin nine-year-olds.

Luci said she came to DCC after much deliberation, knowing that she needed to have a strong church family after "drifting" for five years.

"I was going through some rough times and with the help of my minister back home (in Waukomis) and a lot of prayers and soul searching, I decided to look for a church, and I came across DCC on the internet," she said. "Having a small congregation and a young new pastor intrigued me. What made me decide to join was the welcomeness I felt upon meeting you. Now that I'm a part of DCC I hope to grow closer to my new 'family' and help in any apsect that I can."

Rev. Brian Coats
Perhaps I was in tune a bit more than usual, but I saw God at work in at least a couple of different ways last weekend.

Habitat Workdays
Every Saturday | 8 am—4 pm

Let’s put our faith into action as we build a home for a family in need. This spring, Disciples Christian Church is teaming up with other small churches to build a home. This group, called Interfaith Partners for Habitat (IF4H), will be working on this home every Saturday until June.

Rev. Brian Coats will be on the job site most Saturdays, as will Dave Bell (shown here chalking the foundation last Saturday for walls). If you’d like to join us, just show up at 1210 Ave. G. We’d love to have 2-3 from DCC every week!

No experience is necessary—just a servant’s heart! If you have a favorite hammer, bring that too!

Grace for the Journey
DCC is marking Lent - a season of repentance and sacrifice - with special readings, candles and prayers of confession during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship.

Also, Rev. Brian Coats is preaching a Lenten sermon series titled, "Grace for the Journey." We are called to reflect on our sinful condition during Lent, and we will. We'll also be reminded that God's grace is sufficient, and in our weakness, we are made strong. Come and hear more about this.

Welcome
We are blessed with many regular guests who attend each week and make DCC their church home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people who have recently attended two or more Sundays.

Continuing Visitors:
Robert Richter
Todd O'Sullivan
Jean MacAndrew
Julie MacAndrew

First Time Visitors (March 5):
June and Gary Browne
Luci, Andrew Kitchell
Sue and Homer Reeves

It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. Also, the recently approved new By- Laws and Constitution are posted.

Look for a brand new design to debut on Easter Sunday. For website suggestions, please e-mail the church office.

Feel free to forward this e-mail on. If you are the recepient of a forwarded e-mail, and you have more questions about anything you see here or about Disciples Christian Church, send an e-mail to brian@dccplano.com.
