Come and Hear More
|
 |
On Sunday, April 2 at 6 pm, you are invited
to join us for a Leadership Dinner in the DCC
Fellowship Hall. Come hear
about the new leadership structure recently approved
at the DCC congregational meeting. We'll go over job
descriptions for those called to serve as Elders,
Deacons, Board Officers and Ministry Team
Coordinators. No one will be asked to take any
position ... This is simply a time of information and a
time of fellowship. The dinner is pot-luck, so
please bring a dish to share (sign-up sheets are
in the atrium). We will end the evening
with a short talk on Spiritual Gifts, led by our new
minister, Rev. Brian Coats. To get a sense of what
your spiritual gifts might be, click here and take an assessment. Be
sure and bring your results to the dinner!

Holy Week: A Time for Worship
|
 |
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him
endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God." -
Hebrews
12:2
Four worship services from April 13-16 give you a
unique opportunity to "fix your eyes on Jesus."
- Palm Sunday ... April 9 @ 10:30 am -
Calling all kids and grandkids! We need children to
assist with the Palm Procession. Please let Brian know
if your grandkids will be in church that Sunday.
- Maundy Thursday ... Thursday, April 13
@ 7:45 pm - The "Living Last Supper" at FCC Plano
- Good Friday ... April 14 @ 7 pm - A
remembrance centered around the cross of Jesus
Christ. There will be contemporary music and a
dramatic reading.
- Easter ... April 16 @ 8:30 am - The
celebration begins with a joint early service with
FCCC, followed by a breakfast and Easter egg hunt.
Worship that morning will feature special music by our
young people and a new sermon series.

Mark your calendars for the Good Friday service
here at DCC (7 p.m., April 14th). The
Connection Praise Band from FCC will be providing
music for our joint FCC/DCC service that evening.
Whether you love contemporary praise music, or
embrace a more traditional style, we truly believe you
will enjoy, and be blessed by, the music they bring to
this important day of worship.
Thinking of joining the Chancel Choir for our Palm
Sunday and Easter music? On March 22nd, the
choir began rehearsing (in our chancel) from 6:30-
7:30 on Wednesday evenings. We will continue
to warm-up on Sunday mornings at 8:30 before
Sunday school. After Easter, we will evaluate the
rehearsal schedule as a group and adjust it as
needed. It isn't too late to sing for Easter, and
we would love to have you join us! Questions?
Please call Laura
Young, Music Director, at 972-744-9941.

When I was a youth minister, summer was the time of
the year where the rubber met the road. That was
quite literal - as we'd take several trips to camp and
go on at least two mission trips. It was the most
important time of the year, because the youth had
more down time, which meant I could spend more
time with them. In short, summer is to a youth
minister what March and the first part of April is to a
CPA.
I wasn't sure quite what to expect of the summer
months when I began as a senior pastor. Well, as my
calendar can attest, it appears that is an active time
for more than just young people!
Let me give you a little run-down on some of the
things beginning to take shape:
|
 |
|
|
 |
We are blessed with many regular guests who attend
each week and make DCC their church
home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people who
have recently attended two or more Sundays.
Continuing Visitors:
Robert Richter
Todd O'Sullivan
Sue & Homer Reeves
First Time Visitors (March 26):
Matt, Andrea, Jacob and Emma Thomas

If you would like to purchase an Easter lily to add to
the beauty of the Easter Season, please fill out a
form and return it by Sunday, April 9 to the church
office. Forms are available in the atrium and in
the church office. You can also e-mail the church
office. In the e-mail, please note who the lilies
are in honor or in memory of. Also, if you send an e-
mail, please drop a $10 check in the offering plate or
bring it by the office.

Telling the Good News: Online
|
 |
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. The most notable new feature is an online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities for April on
that calendar. For website suggestions, please e-mail the
church office.

Feel free to forward this e-mail on. If you are the
recepient of a forwarded e-mail, and you have more
questions about anything you see here or about
Disciples Christian Church, send an e-mail to
brian@dccplano.com.
The Mission of Disciples Christian Church In order to follow Jesus and worship God, we will serve our neighbors. We will minister to our fellow Christians. We will live and tell the good news of Jesus Christ in all we do.
