A Season for the Soul
Grace for the Journey

“ ... All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God ... They are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”
- Romans 3:23-24

DCC will mark Lent - a season of repentance, confession and self- examination - with special readings, candles, prayers of confession and words of assurance during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship.

Also, Rev. Brian Coats will be preaching a Lenten sermon series titled, "Grace for the Journey." We are called to reflect on our sinful condition during Lent, and we will. We'll also be reminded that God's grace is sufficient, and in our weakness, we are made strong. Come and hear more about this.

Finally, new Lenten devotional books are available on the Welcome Center and in the Atrium.

If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over. The most notable new feature is an online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. Also, the recently approved new By- Laws and Constitution are posted.

Look for a brand new design to debut on Easter Sunday!

Music Notes
For all music lovers:

Looking for something fun and family-friendly to do? The Richardson Community Band will be presenting a "Winter Showcase" concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th at the Eisemann Center. I play flute in the band and can tell you that we always play a wide variety of styles (some classical, some contemporary wind ensemble music, some movie or show tunes and the obligatory Sousa march or two) so there is something for everyone to enjoy. General admission tickets are available for $7 for adults and $5 for seniors, children and students through grade 12. For more information, please see www.richardsoncommunityband.org and click on "indoor concerts." - Laura Young

Chancel Choir

If you are interested in singing the Easter music with our choir, now is the time to join us! Currently, we meet at 8:30 in the sanctuary before Sunday School begins. Experienced college and high school-age singers are also welcome! You don't have to read music to join the choir. If you can carry a tune and love to sing praises, come try us out. For more information, contact Laura Young, DCC Music Director, at 972-744-9941.

Second Dinner
Good food, good fellowship and good conversation was on display again last Friday at the second "get- to-know-you" dinner at the Coats' home. One of the most exciting parts of both evenings was when we shared our ideas, hopes and goals for DCC.

We are now moving to "stage two" of those ideas, hopes and goals. We are looking for people who have a particular interest in the specific topics we mentioned.

Our first two "stage two" conversations will be Sunday, March 12 and Sunday, March 19. On March 12, anyone interested in continuing the "meaningful worship" discussion is invited to join us at 4:30 p.m. The following Sunday, all those with ideas for church "beautification" and decorating are encouraged to come, also at 4:30 p.m.

Our new ministry teams will launch on July 1. The ideas and energy resulting from these stage two conversations can be handed off to the people that will begin to bring them to reality!

These are exciting times at Disciples Christian Church! Be sure and check out the new bulletin board between the fellowship hall and the sanctuary!

Lillies
Each year the members of DCC give Easter lilies in memory or honor of someone they love to add to the beauty of the Easter Season. Each plant will cost $10.00 If you would like to purchase one or more, please fill out a form and return it by Sunday, April 9. Forms are available in the Atrium and in the church office.

You can also e-mail the church office. In the e-mail, please note who the lillies are in honor or in memory of. Also, if you send an e-mail, please drop a check in the offering plate or bring it by the office.

Habitat
Come build a Habitat for Humanity home!

Every Saturday in March, April and May, a group of churches called "Interfaith Partners" will be building a home for Maria and Cynthia Martinez. DCC is one of those churches, so we need to have representation on the work site as often as possible. Join us any Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at 1210 G. Ave. in Plano. No experience is necessary - just a servant's heart. For more information about this e-mail Dave Bell.

Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 were "Go Texan" days at Bright Beginnings Pre- School. Children learned all about their home state, and parents came up for a hot dog lunch. The children sang and danced to Texas-style songs.
