Hymn Poll:
I want to know what your favorite hymns and songs
are! In the coming weeks, you can fill out a card and
drop it into the small "Hymn Poll"
box in the narthex, or you can email me at
youngzoo@sbcglobal.net. If you email me, please tell
me:
- Your favorite general hymn
- Favorite Advent/Christmas hymn
- Favorite Lent/Easter hymn
- If anything were possible with the DCC music
program, I wish we could...
Thanks! I will let you know the top 10 at summer's
end, and will be looking forward to fitting your
favorites into upcoming worship times. - Laura
Young

“In His Steps”
Walking With Jesus
June/July 2006 Message Series
Disciples Christian Church
Join us on a multi-sensory journey to first-century
Palestine. What did Jesus see, hear, feel, touch
and
taste during his earthly ministry? ... What was
happening around him? ... What was it like to be at a
wedding celebration and run out of wine? ... How did
it feel to sit in a crowd of 5000, as darkness and
hunger grew?
With an emphasis on setting and scenery,
we’ll
explore questions like this and more in June and July.
Each message will focus on an event in Jesus’ life
as
recorded by John. During this time, our
services will
be highly-visual, experiential and casual. Jesus
wore
sandals – feel free to wear yours!
June 18: Water Into Wine ... John 2:1-11
June 25: Jesus teaches Nicodemus ... John 3:1-
17
July 2: Fred Hall preaching
July 9: The Healing at the Pool ... John 5:1-14
July 16: Feeding of 5000 ... John 6:1-15
July 23: Altered leading music; VBS Celebration;
Youth-led drama message
July 30: Death and Resurrection of Lazarus ... John
11:1-44

Even if you can't be at DCC July 17-21 from 9:30 am-
12:30 pm, there are still three ways you can
directly help make Fiesta! a smashing success!
- Donate or lend supplies - Check out the
new bulletin board in the Atrium and pick up a piece
of "confetti" ... VBS leaders are using that as a
collection point for supplies.
- Decorating ... Join us on Sunday, July 16
as we transform DCC into a Fiesta!
- Prayer ... Be in church on Sunday, July
16 as we commission and pray for all VBS volunteers.
Then, return the following Sunday, July 23, for a slide-
show and special music celebrating Fiesta!
Also, to register a young person for VBS,
simply print out and return a
registration form to the DCC office! It could not be
more simple!

104.
That's what the temperature gage on the rearview
mirror of my car said this afternoon when I got in
it.
I just checked. Weather.com said the average
temperature the last week in Plano has been 95
degrees.
You know, there's a reason the Texas Rangers'
winning percentage is 40 percentage points lower the
second half of the season throughout their history
than it is the first half. After a while, they wilt in the
North Texas heat.
Here's my point: It's hot. Really hot. And it's only
June. So I have a suggestion ...

Now that the Interfaith Partners Habitat home is
complete, DCC is turning its attention to the next
hands-on service project.
With the coming of summer, Hurricane Season
2006 has officially started. As we've learned the
last two years, unfortunately it's not "if" a hurricane
will strike, but "when." This year, DCC is going to get
a head- start on the aid.
During June and July, we will be collecting
Emergency Clean-up Buckets. The supplies in
these buckets enable people to begin the
overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood,
hurricane, tornado or other disaster.
You and your family are encouraged to prepare an
entire bucket. The contents can be found on the Church World Service website; lists
are also available in the coffee fellowship area of the
DCC Atrium. Bring your bucket with you to
worship on Sunday, July 30. Before sending them off
to Church World Service, we will dedicate these
buckets.

Telling the Good News: Online
|
 |
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. The most notable new feature is an online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities for June on
that calendar. Also, there is a place to
submit prayer requests and a new feature
called "DCC TV," which is a video of our Sunday worship.
For website suggestions, please e-mail the
church office.
