VIVA!

It's a fiesta at Disciples Christian Church!
For the last three days, 57 children have been
learning that Jesus is their friend, life and leader. On
Thursday, they will learn that Jesus is their savior!
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who helped by
donating supplies. We invite you to join us for
worship this Sunday for a VBS slideshow. Also, VBS
children will be singing some of the songs they
learned this week, and we will pray over and dedicate
the blankets they made as part of the mission effort
to "blanket the world with the love of Jesus."
After Sunday's worship service, all of the VBS photos
will be on the DCC website.

DCC is thrilled to welcome Julie Chen to the
staff as the new pianist/accompanist. She began
officially on Sunday, July 9.
Julie lives in Plano. She teaches piano and likes to
spend time with her two children, Tiffany, who is 21
and a senior at UT-Dallas, and Aaron, 17, a senior at
Plano Senior High School.
"I am very excited about being a part of DCC," Julie
said. "I came here looking for a place to praise God
and to share the gospel of music. I am looking
forward to growing closer to God and also getting to
know everyone here."
The excitement is mutual! Welcome, Julie!

For most of us, life is a balancing act – keeping all
the plates spinning and all the balls in the air – and
then having enough energy to start again tomorrow.
This is especially true for many families as a new
school year starts. Is perfect balance really
achievable? Certainly – if you’re a circus performer. If
you’re not, join us at Disciples Christian Church,
where we’re learning to survive and thrive in the
imbalance we all call life!
This three-week series kicks off Sunday, August
13.

Now that the Interfaith Partners Habitat home is
complete, DCC is turning its attention to the next
hands-on service project.
With the coming of summer, Hurricane Season
2006 has officially started. As we've learned the
last two years, unfortunately it's not "if" a hurricane
will strike, but "when." This year, DCC is going to get
a head- start on the aid.
During June and July, we will be collecting
Emergency Clean-up Buckets. The supplies in
these buckets enable people to begin the
overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood,
hurricane, tornado or other disaster.
You and your family are encouraged to prepare an
entire bucket. The contents can be found on the Church World Service website; lists
are also available in the coffee fellowship area of the
DCC Atrium. Bring your bucket with you to
worship on Sunday, July 30. Before sending them off
to Church World Service, we will dedicate these
buckets.

Telling the Good News: Online
|
 |
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. The most notable new feature is an online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities, birthdays
and anniversaries for August on
that calendar. Also, there is a place to
submit prayer requests and a new feature
called "DCC TV," which is a video of our Sunday worship.
For website suggestions, please e-mail the
church office.
