Celebrating New Ministry
Disciples Christian Church

We will be celebrating Rev. Coats and his family's ministry with DCC the next three weekends.

First, don't miss signing up for one of the two "get-to- know-you" dinners at the Coats’ home in Allen, Friday, Feb. 10 and Friday, Feb. 24 (both at 7 p.m.). Sponsored by the Pastoral Support Team, part of the evening will be set aside for sharing our hopes and goals for DCC, so come and be a part of the dreaming! You can sign up for a night and note your side dish on a sign-up sheet located on the Welcome Center in the Atrium, or you can sign up by talking to or e-mailing Sandy Snyder.

Next, be sure and be in worship on Sunday, February 19 for Rev. Coats' installation. There will be special music and special prayers, and words of commitment from Rev. Coats and from the congregation. Also, Larry Ross, the North Texas Area Minister, will be bringing the message. Invite a friend or neighbor to this special occasion. Afterwards, stay and enjoy lunch!

This week, Rev. Coats will be talking about how much effort we put in to inviting people to experience the healing and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The text is Mark 2:1-12, and the title is "Take Me To Your Leader."

Also serving in worship:

Mike Bell, worship leader and Elder
Deacons: S.W. Christie, Sam Christie, Sharon Knoll and Bob Knoll

Music Notes
Choir has resumed! If you are interested in singing with us, please join us at 8:30 on Sunday morning in the sanctuary. You do not need to read music to join us. If you can carry a tune in a bucket, I can supply the buckets! We will be singing in the Feb. 5th worship service. See you Sunday! Laura Young, Music Director, 972-744-9941.
Thursday, February 16 Young at Heart will be meeting on February 16 at 6:30 PM at Old Whiskers restaurant, located at 1301 Custer Rd. (at 15th St.). Call Fred Hughey with any questions at 972-596- 8658.
Sunday, February 26: Congregational meeting to vote on new DCC Constitution, By-Laws and Operation and Procedure Manual.
Rev. Brian Coats
The last five Sundays - the entire time I have been at DCC - a dedicated group of volunteers have gathered after worship.

That's right ... your By-Law Revision Team has met EVERY SUNDAY since the New Year. I think that worthy of a round of applause and a pat on the back - to say the least.

Habitat
Come be a part of a Habitat workday!

On Saturday, March 4, DCC will be sending a volunteer crew to work on framing a home for an in-need family. If you've never worked with Habitat before, it is a wonderful organization dedicated to ending worldwide substandard housing. They offer a "hand- up, not a hand-out." No construction experience is required - trained supervisors are on site, including our own Dave Bell. For more information about this workday, e-mail Dave.

The new Deacon Serving Schedule is posted in the Narthex of the Sanctuary. We still have need for a couple more servers. If you can help, please see me. God bless you for your good and faithful service, Mike Bell.

Exciting news!! Our new pastor has been awarded a full grant to attend a spiritual growth opportunity with other bright, up-coming clergy!! This is a special recognition for Brian and an honor for DCC. The gathering will enable him to make invaluable contacts and gain knowledge and insight as he continues to grow in his service to the Lord. More specific details of the seminar will be shared as the date nears. The meeting will be held in Tampa, Fla April 24-28. - Donna Clancy, Board Chair

Dear Pastor and Friends,
Thank you so much for your generous support of Pathway Ministry during the year 2005. Please know how much we appreciate and value your support for the Lord’s work through our ongoing ministry of reaching people everywhere with the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Again, “thank you” for caring, for sharing, and for helping to make this ministry possible.

Dear Gary (Boyd),
Thanks you so much for your generous support of the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center. Our records reflect your total for 2005 was $400.
Your faithful support has truly made a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children and their families.
