What an amazing week it's been since my installation as your new Minister to Youth and Families! After installation I traveled with 11 youth and 5 adults to serve in mission in Lake Charles, LA to continue with the Hurricane Rita relief effort. During our week there we worked alongside many volunteers to help get portable classrooms at the high school in the town of Cameron up and running so the youth returning with their families to that area could begin classes in the next few weeks ...

Upcoming Youth Events

Sun. August 27 - Brown Bag Lunch and Swim at the Plano Aquatic Center ... Youth bring $1.50, a sack lunch and your swimsuit and towel to church. We will leave for the pool after worship. Parents please pick up your child at the pool by 4pm. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by a parent.

Sat. September 2nd - Dallas Youth Explosion 3 - 6pm ... All North Texas Area youth are invited. The theme is "Falling in Love with Jesus." There will be a keynote speaker from the Sports World with workshops and focus groups. The cost: $5 and 1 canned good. The event will take place at Warren Avenue C.C. Interested? All of the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest gather once every two years for worship, renewal and fellowship. The next gathering is October 19-21, 2006 in Amarillo, TX. Featured speakers include Joey Jeter and Alvin Jackson, and the Saturday night worship will take place in Palo Duro Canyon! Our own Brian Coats is in charge of a youth worker training during the event.

Also, don't forget to visit the online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer. You can find all of the church activities, birthdays and anniversaries for August on that calendar, as well as the scheduled Elders and Deacons for each Sunday.
