Holy Week: A Time for Worship
|
 |
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him
endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God." -
Hebrews
12:2
Four worship services from April 13-16 give you a
unique opportunity to "fix your eyes on Jesus."
- Palm Sunday ... April 9 @ 10:30 am -
Calling all kids and grandkids! We need children to
assist with the Palm Procession. Please let Brian
know
if your grandkids will be in church that Sunday.
- Maundy Thursday ... Thursday, April 13
@ 7:45 pm - The "Living Last Supper" at FCC Plano
- Good Friday ... April 14 @ 7 pm - A
remembrance centered around the cross of Jesus
Christ. There will be contemporary music and a
dramatic reading.
- Easter ... April 16 @ 8:30 am - The
celebration begins with a joint early service with
FCCC, followed by a breakfast and Easter egg hunt.
Worship that morning will feature special music by our
young people and a new sermon series.

as we
spend a little bit of time getting the church spruced
up and ready for
Easter! To see a list of probable projects,

tools. With spring well underway and summer
approaching, volunteers are needed for mowing every
other week. If you can help, please let Rick Boyer know.

"We came to DCC because of the Nabors, but we
stayed at DCC because of the people in the pews,
Brian and John."
That's how Chuck and Nancy Bertschi
recently described the
journey that eventually led them to unite with
Disciples Christian Church last Sunday. What a
blessing!
The Bertschis are hardly "new," as they have been
attending DCC for about a year. Before that, they
were members of First Christian Church of Richardson
for about 28 years.
Chuck and Nancy are the only people in the United
States that rebuild Model "A" speedometers. When
they aren't working on those or helping at the church
in numerous ways, they enjoy spending time with
their grandchildren: Aiden, Austin, Justin and
Jordan.
Before retiring, Chuck was a general accounting
supervisor at Ford Motor Company for 37 years.
Nancy owned her own house painting business for
five years, and she worked in the floral industry for
ten years.
Welcome, Chuck and Nancy - officially!

About 30 people gathered to hear more about the
new DCC leadership structure last Sunday
evening.
John Prewitt (pictured here with Fred Hall and Brian
Coats), a DCC Elder and a member of the By-Law
Revision Team, thought the event was fun and
successful.
"I'm glad everyone knows where we are headed and
what our expectations for the leadership roles we are
trying to fill are," he said.
Job descriptions for all of the new ministry team
coordinator positions were made available at the
dinnner. They are also available on the DCC Website.

We are blessed with many regular guests who attend
each week and make DCC their church
home. "Continuing Visitors" are those new people who
have recently attended two or more Sundays.
Continuing Visitors:
Robert Richter
Dan & Linda Busdiecker
Sue & Homer Reeves
First Time Visitors (April 2):
Guido Roersch (Guido was in Dallas for business for
three weeks ... he is from Berlin, Germany!)

the church office. You can also e-mail the church
office. In the e-mail, please note who the lilies

Telling the Good News: Online
|
 |
If you have not stopped by the DCC website
recently, click
on over. The most notable new feature is an online
calendar. It enables you to send yourself
reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to
friends and colleagues and download the church
schedule to your personal computer.
You can find all of the church activities for April on
that calendar. For website suggestions, please e-mail the
church office.
