Easter at DCC
Easter

It was a beautiful day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

The morning began with a joint service with FCCC. Breakfast, organized by Sally Bell, was wonderful, and children filled the lawn for the Easter Egg hunt. Finally, we gathered for worship at 10:30 am. Easter As Brian noted, there seemed to be a sense of vibrancy and spirit ... the music was great, the Easter children's moment - given by Laura Young - was especially uplifting, and we were challenged in the message to be like Martha and the disciples, and "Go and tell."

Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed!

Disciples Christian Church
We took a break to focus our attention on Lent and Easter, but our "second-stage" conversations return in May. Join Brian on May 7 at 3:30 pm to discuss discipleship and Christian education, and then again on May 21, also at 3:30 pm, to discuss evangelism and church growth. All are welcome - these are meant to be discussions where we share, brainstorm and dream!
In vibrant, Christ-centered churches, what does evangelism look like? How about worship? Outreach?

Join us during April and May as we explore questions like these ... We'll take a look at the purpose and mission of the church, and we'll listen for God's word of vision for Disciples Christian Church as we continue to claim God's promise of "all things new."

  • April 23 ... Evangelism Out of the Box ... Colossians 3:12-17
  • April 30 ... Worship Out of the Box ... I Peter 1:3- 12

Habitat build
Work continues on the Interfaith Partners for Habitat home at 1210 G. St. in Plano. If you can help, volunteers are needed every Saturday. Simply show up at 8 a.m. with some work gloves and a servant's heart, and trained, dedicated construction supervisors (like our own Dave Bell!) will point you in the right direction.

On Saturday, May 20, DCC is teaming up with West Plano Presbyterian Church to provide food at the worksite. This involves preparing and serving breakfast and lunch to about 50 volunteers. If you can help with this, please e-mail Nicole Coats.

Posados
Join us tonight, Thursday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Pasado's Restaurant on Central Expressway. To RSVP, send Brian Coats an e- mail.
thank you
The Workday on April 15 was a tremendous success thanks to the hard work of a lot of people: Chuck and Nancy Bertschi; Rick, Patti, Julie and Ricky Boyer; Lois Teed-Gillen; Dave and Sally Bell; Bob and Donna Clancy; Brian and Nicole Coats and Gary Boyd. Sunday school rooms were painted, closets were cleaned, the lawn was mowed and much more. Give these folks a pat on the back for a job well done the next time you see them.

If you have not stopped by the DCC website recently, click on over. The most notable new feature is an online calendar. It enables you to send yourself reminders of upcoming events, send invitations to friends and colleagues and download the church schedule to your personal computer.

You can find all of the church activities for April on that calendar.
